Happy Thanksgiving

What comes to mind when someone asks you what you're thankful for? Is it relationships? Is it material things? My wonderful husband's automatic response to that question was "salvation". He is so good at alot of things. I am so thankful that Isaac is a good spiritual head of our household. As he will be the first to admit, he isn't perfect. But he takes his role as husband and father seriously (but not too serious). My first response on the other hand was mended relationships (can you tell I'm forever the peacemaker?). Both sides of our family have had their rocky points over the past few years and I'm so thankful to be at a place when everyone is getting along and there isn't too much unnecessary drama going on. God has really blessed Isaac and I - we are both from families that have solid marriages, we have families who love us and support us different ways, we have two beautiful sons who are healthy.... and of course we love eachother very much in spite of the challenges that we face in our life and relationship.

This is a neat, encouraging post, Lawana. I love getting to know this side of you that you share in the blogosphere.

Isaac and I have the same goatee. It's sort of an uncommitted goatee in that the beard part doesn't want to make a commitment with the mustache part. One of these days, he and I are going to hit puberty.

Actually, it's my mustache that won't committ to the beard... They're seeking professional counseling to resolve some communication issues.

Maybe you could lead a support group for our facial hair--you're the expert.

Step 1:
We admitted we were powerless over the folicles--that our hair had become unmanageable.

Step 2:
Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore our facial hair.

Step 3:
Made a decision to turn our face and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

Step 4:
Made a searching and fearless inventory of our stubble.

Step 5:
Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our whiskers.

Step 6:
Were entirely ready to have God restore all these defects of stubble.

Step 7:
Humbly asked Him to fill in our peachfuzz.

Step 8:
Made a list of all hairs we had shaved, and became willing to let them grow again.

Step 9:
Made direct amends to such hairs wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

Step 10:
Continued to take folicle inventory and when we shaved, promptly admitted it.

Step 11:
Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His beard and the beard he had in store for us.

Step 12:
Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other peachfuzzers, and to practice these principles with all the hair on our body.

I caved. Please forgive me. I went out to Walgreen's and blew fifty bucks. I speared Rogaine all over my face.
