Sevenly - National Autism Association

Sevenly is a unique way to give.  One design. One week. One cause.  For every purchase they give $7 to this week’s charity. The charity of the week is: National Autism Association.

Problem - Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability in the U.S.. Children with autism often have life-threatening tendencies like wandering from safety, unaware of their surroundings and unable to recognize danger. Each year there are twice as many deaths of children with autism than children without the disorder. Most deaths are due to drowning, falling from extreme heights, or other preventable accidents.

Solution - This week your support will protect a child with autism by providing their parents with an emergency kit equipped with critical tools to assist in preventing and responding to emergencies. This kit includes door alarms for their home, an ID tag for the child, visual safety prompts to be displayed on doors and windows, and an emergency plan.

This is so close to my heart.  While we still do not have a diagnosis for either Joe or Christine there has been talk of autism being a possibility.  From what I have read about it there are a lot of similarities between common autistic traits and some things we have seen in Joe especially.  I can relate to families with children who have autism.  I know from personal experience how hard it is to have a child that you cannot communicate effectively with.  I have felt the pain of not knowing how to help your child to learn or reach that next milestone that seems so far away.  I often feel overwhelmed when I think about what my children's futures will be like.

Please consider contributing to this cause.  If nothing else please pray for autistic children and their families.  It is not a smooth road they are on.

2 Cor 12:9, 10 And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
