State Fair Fun!

Over the weekend we went to the State Fair with my brother and sister-in-law and their boys. The kids loved checking out the animals and a few interactive exhibits. The big boys (the dads) loved the food. We were shocked at how much the food prices had gone up since the last time we'd been there. My husband has to get a turkey leg when he goes to the fair... it was $8!!
We parted ways with the inlaws when they wanted to go ride carnival rides. Do you know how expensive those have gotten?!? The individual tickets are a buck a piece (I think) - and each ride is 3-4 tickets. But the "pay one price - ride all night" deal was going on later that day. It was only from 7p-10p and it was $25!! For that price you might as well go to an amusement park and ride all day!
But we did have a good time and we all had a nice long nap when we got home!

I agree that the State Fair is a very expensive event for families--and yet attendance is way up this year. It just doesn't make sense. But there's nothing like seeing the puzzled look on your son's face the first time he sees the "business" of the state's largest boar.

Goodness, that's pricey. You're right about the cost of the ride tickets too. Btw, check out Indiana Beach's homeschool week link. You can get in for $9pp (closed out for this year, as tickets need to be ordered in advance).

The photos are great though. Perhaps I'll see them again at crop night? I'll be there this Friday and at CORD too. Looking forward to it.

What wonderful pictures, Wani. The girls have been begging to go, but I just haven't wanted to spend the money. The absolutely gorgeous, cool, wonderful weather is beckoning though. We'll see!

Love ya! Sniz

$8.00 seems horrible, but let's break it down here... I had easily over 35 bites of turkey goodness. In addition, I shared ~15 bites with other people as well. So it comes down to about $0.16 per bite; which is way less than what most people pay for a gumball (which I have for sale at both Penrod Counseling Center locations).
