Family Friendly Friday

Some friends of ours have designated Friday nights as their "family night". Every week one of their four girls gets to choose the activity. Sometimes its something like making s'mores, or another time it'll be a nature walk or board games... given how different their girls are - I imagine the activities vary quite a bit from week to week!
Does your family have a designated "family nite"? What kind of things do you do together as a family? Do you make it a time of fun or learning or both? I'd love to hear some other great ideas from all of you! Let me know what your family does!

We used to have Friday Family Movie Night, but with the kids getting older and being involved in so many activities, We are never all here on Friday nights, so it has become a thing of the past. We try to sit down to a family meal a few times a week.

So Carlos... is apparently like a Blogfather when it comes to blogging and the internet in the Christian worship/creative scene. He's funny too.

Then there his wife who has made a name for herself. She does a lot of this family stuff. Maybe you could get some ideas and share.

I've never met the group, but they have both commented on my blog at some point.

We have "special nights" for each of the kids where they get to do something, one-on-one, with either mom or dad. It's a pretty big deal.

We don't designate a family night per se, as our dynamics are such that we spend lots of time together naturally.

However, we do have "Stay up" night. It falls on Carl's "Friday" (which is Wednesday night now). One child stays up 30 minutes past bedtime each week (except Brandon, who isn't old enough to take a turn). That child gets to have one-on-one time with mom AND dad, and gets to choose the activity as well (don't you just love a good run-on sentence?)

Stay up night is a HUGE hit with our kids and they know exactly whose turn it is each week.
Blessings,

Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to visit and comment on my blog.

One of the things we do every dinner time is we ground the table and everyone has to say at least one (it can be more) positive thing that's happened in the day. It was introduced after we realised dinner time seemed to have become a time we just moaned about the day. It works well :)
